6 Days / 7 Nights Sirimon Route

Sirimon Mount Kenya climbing route, is the least used of the three main routes but `features the most gradual ascent profile and best acclimatization options and above all the most interesting since it’s on the drier side on the mountain. The route passes through impressive Yellowwood forests in the lower reaches and features abundant wildlife and beautiful alpine scenery higher up.

Safari Itinerary

DAY 1 NAIROBI / NARO MORU

Early pick from a city hotelier Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to Naro Moru River lodge, arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. Spend afternoon at leisure.

Overnight at Naro Moru River lodge in a superior room on full board basis (Lunch/dinner/breakfast)

DAY 2 NARO MORU/SIRIMON

Morning spent sorting and organizing personal equipment for the mountain trek. Lunch at the Lodge In the afternoon, we are driven to the Sirimon Park Gate and then to the road-head at 3,300m. An easy trek in the afternoon to help acclimatization.

Overnight Judmaier Camp (3300m) in the high-altitude mountain tents on full board basis.

DAY 3 SIRIMON/LIKII NORTH VALLEY

Ascend the Sirimon Track to Likii North Valley and camp overnight in this beautiful little valley below the subsidiary peaks of Teleki and Sendeyo, two ancient parasitic vents of the main peaks. (3990m) Overnight Likii Camp on full board basis.

DAY 4 NORTH VALLEY/MACKINDERS VALLEY

Climb out of the North Valley and into the Mackinders Valley, one of the broadest valleys on the mountain, with many giant groundsels. Camp at the head of the Mackinder’s Valley, just below the main peaks of Batian and Nelion (4,300m).

Overnight Shiptons Camp on full board basis.

DAY 5 ASCEND TO LENANA POINT/DESCENT TO TELEKI VALLEY

Alpine ascent to the highest peak, Pt. Lenana (4985m). En route up the north face little used by tourists. Four hours of stiff walking to the summit. Then descend to Teleki Valley on the opposite side of the main peaks, to Mackinder’s Camp for a good night rest (4150m.)

DAY 6 NARO MORU /NAIROBI

After breakfast transfer to Nairobi aiming to arrive into Kenya’s bustling capital by afternoon. Once in the city, you will be dropped off at a city centre hotel or the airport for your ongoing travel arrangements.

PAYMENTS POLICY

CASH:

If payment is to be made in cash, Dollars, Euros or Kenya Shillings are accepted. The rate of exchange will be communicated to you.

CREDIT CARD:

Please note, in a case of payments by credit card, a surcharge can be added to cover processing of payment. The same will be communicated to you prior.

BANK / WIRE TRANSFERS:

Payment can also be made through a bank or wire transfer. Note that ALL bank charges will be paid by you.

DEPOSIT

Upon a written confirmation, note that you will be required to pay a deposit as outlined in writing and a Maggie Holidays invoice stating the amount to be paid.

A deposit payment can range from 30% – 40% depending on the time frame of booking to start of safari. Balance payment must be 4-6 weeks prior to commencement of the safari and monies received in our account in full.

For last minute bookings, Maggie Holidays reserves the right to request for full payment upfront before commencement of the safari.

Any safari deposit paid shall be refunded less the cost of cancellation fees levied by hotels and administrative costs as below.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Should conditions arise that will cause you to cancel your safari booking, you must notify Maggie Holidays immediately in writing through our company email address or whatsapp.

Note:

In many cases, cancellation charges are set by the Suppliers based on their contracts with us which fall under laws and jurisdiction of East Africa courts hence cancellation fees are enforceable based on the laws of those contracts.

We strongly recommend that clients are advised to purchase travel insurance.

A cancellation includes any reduction of services including reduction of the number of participants, reduction of the length of travel, removal of any specific services from the overall tour package or change of services where specific Suppliers will charge cancellation fees.

In the event that travellers need to change their travel dates, we will make every effort to accommodate the changes but Suppliers may still charge cancellation fees that will be passed on to us.

In the case of date changes, subsequent cancellations will be charged based on the original departure date.

Cancellation charges are calculated as follows:

Over 40 days before the departure date: loss of deposit.

40-20 days before the departure date: 50% of the tour price.

20-16 days before the departure date: 75% of the tour price.

Less than 16 days before the departure date or no-show: 100% of the tour price.

In some cases, Suppliers may impose stricter cancellation policies than those shown. In those cases, we will advise the clients before the booking is accepted.
