Day 1: Nairobi – Ngong House

Ngong House is a great experience. Tree houses that also offer luxuries like four poster beds, crisp linen and gourmet food are just the beginning. Evenings start with sundowners on your verandah at tree level, from where you can watch the breathtaking sunsets over the Ngong Hills.

After sunset guests gather around the camp fire under an acacia tree nearby the swimming pool. Dinner is served in a half open thatched rondavel with a huge fireplace and plenty of candles. This unique dinner atmosphere is only found at Ngong House.

Day 2, 3 and 4:  Ngong House - Lewa (Borana Lodge)

(Transfer from Ngong House to Wilson Airport for a flight to Lewa).

Borana Lodge is situated in the north in one of the meandering valleys of the Laikipia Plateau in the foothills of Mount Kenya. The lodge offers day and night game drives, walking safaris, trout fishing and a refreshing swimming pool. Borana lodge overlooks a dam which fills with the floodwater flowing off the surrounding hills. It is the local watering hole for all the wildlife in the area so there is constant activity for the guests to watch.

There is also a game blind built right on the edge of the dam so that visitors may go down and see the activity at close range: elephants swimming is a favorite. There is an abundance of game in the area including lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, elephant, hyena, rhino and a large variety of antelope. The lodge has also raised two orphaned bush pigs that wander freely around the grounds.

Day 7 - 9: Samburu - Masai Mara

Mara Explorer has elevated the art of the African safari to spectacular new heights. This exclusive five-star camp, situated on a thickly forested river in the middle of the Maasai Mara reserve, offers guests the ultimate wilderness retreat, where you can watch elephants or giraffes drinking from the privacy of your verandah – or from your own outdoor Victorian bathtub! Situated in the heart of the reserve, Mara Explorer enjoys prime views of the spectacular wildebeest migration between June and September, and some of the world’s most rewarding Big Cat sightings during the remainder of the year.

Mara Explorer was constructed as an eco-friendly camp and its safari accommodation in Kenya is designed to have a minimal impact on the fragile Talek ecosystem. An intimate dining area looks out over the river close to the camp entrance. Meals are served from the kitchens, using fresh vegetables and herbs grown in the camp gardens. Meals can also be enjoyed on the veranda, or at one of many specially-selected 'bush sites' close to the camp. Next door, the camp bar offers sweeping views over the river, and a quiet place for reading, playing board games, or swapping Masai Mara safari tales. There are game walks and game drives daily for you to make the best of this wildlife spectacle!
